Arduser, Elverna
Elverna Arduser, 86, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, April 6, at United Church of Monticello, where friends may call after 11 a.m. The Rev. Edwin Moreano will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving are three children, Diane (Bob) Yocum, Rockford, Ill., Don (Julie) Arduser, Hollywood, Fla., and Andy (Denise) Arduser, Monticello; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Judy Weers, Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Casper on July 18, 2012; and a brother, Gerald Weers.
Elverna Weers was born June 4, 1926, at Scotch Grove, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Louise Catherine (Dirks) Weers. Elverna received her education in the Monticello Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1945. Elverna Weers and Casper Arduser were married Aug. 24, 1950, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple purchased their farm near Langworthy in 1957. Elverna also worked at Collins Radio and for Doris Husmann in her catering business, but was a farm wife and mother most of her life.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and canning. Her zucchini jam was legendary. Elverna loved to spend time with her grandchildren whenever she could.
