Romney article isn’t the one that’s biased

After an April 25 guest column by Iowa Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds (“Future under Obama should have every American on edge”), The Gazette is being charged with bias (“Biased article shows support for Obama,” April 28) for printing the Associated Press article “Romney on spending.”
The only difference between the articles is that the AP provides details whereas Ms. Reynolds provides only sound bites. When did facts become bias?
Reynolds' comments ring hollow in the lack of specifics, especially since this is the criticism of the Democrat Congress.
Romney's foreign policy is to increase the defense budget, his immigration plan is “self deportation” and we don't have to worry about the poor as they have a “safety net.” Funding for higher education falls to “borrow from your parents.” The increase in college tuition disregards balancing state budgets at the expense of education; think University of Northern Iowa. He also plans to increase taxes on the middle class while giving millionaire “job creators” a bigger piece of the pie. We have seen what smaller government did to the banking and housing markets; can we afford fewer regulators?
Before President Obama took office, economists said it would take at least five years to turn around the economy.
The Republican machine planned to make Obama a one-term president immediately after his election. Our president has done his best given these conditions. With super PACs distorting campaign ads, hopefully democracy will reign over financial interest this November.
