Cedar Rapids man charged after gun threat

Randy Moyer was arrested early Tuesday after he pulled a gun on two housemates, police said.

Diane Hogan, 38, and Jason Hogan, 44, called police about 1:05 a.m., telling them Moyer threatened them with a gun and told them to leave the apartment at 1735 Washington Ave. SE, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.

The police Special Response Team was called, and officers began knocking on doors in the building to get other tenants out, Hamblin said. During this time, Moyer left his apartment to see what was going on.

“He was greeted by members of our SRT and taken into custody,” according to Hamblin.

Moyer, 51, was arrested on two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. He was released from the Linn County Jail on Tuesday after an initial court appearance.
