Creamer, Jean Dow Fenton
Mrs. Jean Dow Fenton Creamer, 95, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church, Greenville, N.C. Burial will be at a later date in Marion.
Mrs. Creamer, a native of Marion, Iowa, was a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She received a master's degree from the University of Buffalo, Buffalo, N.Y., and taught in Manly, Iowa for three years, then for 17 years in Albion, N.Y. From 1974 to 1993, she was a resident of South Bend, Ind., where she was a member of First Baptist Church. In 1993, she made her home in Greenville, N.C., and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In Greenville she was involved as a literary and PCMH volunteer and was a member of PEO for 70 years. She enjoyed her knitting group and swimming at ViQuest with her many friends.
Mrs. Creamer will be remembered as a sweet, loving friend and mother.
She is survived by her daughters, Dow Fenton Malnati and husband Robert of Pittsburgh, Pa.; andEllen Fenton Hucknall and husband Charles of Greenville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Angus Hucknall and wife Arlie of Durham, N.C., andBrian Hucknall, of Ocracoke, N.C.; andgreat-grandchild, Draegan Hucknall.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard P. Fenton in 1963; her second husband, Charles Creamer in 1991; and a grandson, Eric Dow Hucknall in 2002.
A special thanks to her Iowa friend, Joe Otto; caregiver, Josephine Short; and the staff of University Home Health and Hospice.
