Here's a quickie, courtesy of Jim O'Donnell of the Chicago Sun-Times in his college football notes Wednesday:
(Northwestern) middle linebacker Nate Williams offered pointed insight into the health of his unit, and it wasn't all that cheery.
Asked if this is the healthiest the defense has been since the season opener against Towson, Williams replied, ''No. I'm pretty banged up myself, and our safeties are a little banged up. We're getting there, but we're not quite 100 percent. ... We have a couple of other problems in the secondary. I probably only have one good leg at times.''
