Iowa's Tucker to play tonight?
Feb. 10, 2010 3:48 pm
Iowa sophomore guard Anthony Tucker traveled with the team to Ohio State, participated in pre-game warm-ups and rode the bench the entire game.
So, will he do the same tonight against Northwestern or will he play?
"There's a chance as long as he's dressed," Iowa Coach Todd Lickliter said. "We're just going to keep evaluating and seeing."
Tucker, 20, was suspended from the team on Dec. 20 after an alcohol-related arrest. He returned to practice on Jan. 25 but has not played in any of Iowa's four games since his return. He has missed 13 of Iowa's 24 games.
"We've been playing some pretty good basketball," Lickliter said. "So it's one of those things where ,as I've said in here and I've told Anthony, what happens is you have to move on. When you move on, you start developing the way you're going to play. So there's always ... you have to figure a way back in and then we've got to work through that."
Tucker averaged 11.9 points a game while starting Iowa's first 11 games. Matt Gatens leads the team in scoring at 12 points a game.
Lickliter said he's not keeping out Tucker because of team chemistry.
"Not necessarily chemistry, but rotations have been established," Lickliter said. "Guys are playing well. Early in the year we were playing Eric May at the four quite a bit when (Aaron) Fuller was out. Now Fuller's back, and Eric's not playing the four, he's playing the three. So the rotations have changed."
