Iowa man pleads guilty in standoff

A man who held police at bay in a 90-minute standoff in Ottumwa has pleaded guilty to a firearms charge.
Kim Johnson entered a written plea earlier this week in Wapello County District Court to reckless use of a firearm with property damage. Sentencing is set for Dec. 3.
The standoff began when deputies went to Johnson's home with an arrest warrant on Sept. 3. Officials say Johnson slammed the door and retreated inside.
Authorities blocked off the area, and Johnson eventually surrendered.
Johnson's trial was scheduled for February, but his attorney filed a guilty plea on Tuesday. Johnson faces up to two years in prison.
