DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Former Gov. Chet Culver says he enjoys his work as a business consultant to renewable energy companies, but he won't rule out a future return to politics.
Culver, a Democrat, was governor for four years after serving eight years as Iowa's secretary of state. He lost re-election last November to Republican Terry Branstad.
Culver says after considering different work, he formed the Culver Group, a consulting business that advises alternative energy companies on business strategies. He says he enjoys being an entrepreneur.
Some expected Culver to take a position in Washington, where he grew up, but he says his family enjoys living in West Des Moines.
Despite his new work, the 45-year-old Culver says he relishes public debate and could jump back into politics in the future.
