SHIRLEY MARIE VAN DE MARK
Dannebrog, Neb.
Shirley Marie Van De Mark, 70, of Dannebrog, Neb., formerly of Grand Island, Neb., passed away peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021, at CHI Hospital. To honor Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will have a celebration of her life at a later date. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
Shirley was born April 4, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Neb., the daughter of Gordon and Mae (Lombard) Auten. She received her education in Cedar Rapids, Neb., graduating in 1969. Shirley later attended college at Central Community College in Grand Island, Neb., graduating in 1990 and earning her LPN license.
Shirley worked as an LPN at several locations in Grand Island including St. Francis Hospital, the V.A. Medical Center and several of the nursing homes until her retirement in 2017. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist faith for many years.
Shirley lived for her grandchildren. She spent much of her time with them watching movies, reading books or attending the Carnival. She also loved to cook her signature dessert, Strawberries-N-Rice.
Those who will cherish her memory include her six children, Sheila Boersen of Grand Island, Neb., Alaina Boersen (George Larson) of Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis Van De Mark II of Omaha, Neb., Joshua Van De Mark (Ashley Meighan) of Grand Island, Neb., Sarah Van De Mark of St. Paul, Neb., and Katie (Chris) Donahoo of Dannebrog, Neb.; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Kurtis, Daniel, Tristan, Adam, Eva, Henry, Woody and Benjamin; and five siblings, Bernard (Sue) Auten of Norfolk, Neb., Mary Woodland of Central City, Neb., and David Auten, Raymond Auten and JP Auten, all of Cedar Rapids, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
