JoAnn McKinley, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, in her home at The Gardens. JoAnn was born Oct. 6, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine (Compton) Stenner. She was a long time Kindergarten teacher for the Cedar Rapids School System. JoAnn loved spending time in Colorado enjoying the picturesque mountains, the wildlife, and laughter with family and friends. Her favorite pastimes included photography and writing Haiku poetry.
JoAnn was predeceased by her sisters, Janet and Alice Jean Stenner. She was also predeceased by her son, Read McKinley, who died in infancy.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Steven McKinley and his wife, Amy, of Rutland, Mass., and Tom McKinley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Orion Rupert, Morgan McKinley and Jackson McKinley.
A visitation to share memories of JoAnn will be heldfrom 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday May 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. This will be followed by a private service at 1 p.m. to commemorate JoAnn.
Following the continued proclamations issued by the Governor, physical distancing must be practiced, which may require a limited number of people allowed into a visitation at one time and limited seating available at services. The use of facial coverings is strongly encouraged.
