Schloss, Richard N.
Richard N. Schloss, 81, of Hiawatha, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Buffalo United Methodist Church, 1000 30th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation starting at 9 a.m. The Rev. Jenny Seylar will officiate.
Richard Norman Schloss was born June 27, 1931, to Herman and Katherine (Sommers) Schloss in Cedar Rapids. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Studt on Jan. 9, 2013, in Cedar Rapids. He was employed by Rockwell Collins for 33 years.
Richard enjoyed craft making, telling jokes, handing out candy, and especially trains. He was a member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; sons, Rick (Patty) Schloss of Cedar Rapids and Matt (Tami) Schloss and Andy (Barb) Schloss, both of Plant City, Fla.; stepsons, Terry (Janice) Studt and Dennis (Mary) Studt, both of Cedar Rapids, and Kevin (Ellen) Studt of Olympia, Wash.; a brother, Roger Schloss of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Rose.
