Emilia, Sarah's daughter, has requested that those in attendance at her mother's services wear something pink to remind us of her mother, please.
Sarah Elizabeth McKay was born Oct. 31, 1975, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of David J. and Kathleen A. (Dyvad) McKay. In her youth her family moved to Iowa City, where she attended South East Junior High and City High School. While in school she was a cheerleader both in junior high and high school. Following high school she had worked for Cross Medical Labs, and most recently for Hawkeye Foods.
If you knew Sarah, you were her friend, you knew this girlie girlie, who loved to dress to the nines, and had a passion for purses and shoes! She was one who could make that “entrance” wherever she went, one that had a great sense of humor, adventure, always with the best intentions, caring, sweet, and loved her pink! Just ask the twinkle in her eye, the love of her life, the greatest blessing that she ever knew, her daughter, Emilia.
Her family includes her daughter, Emilia; mother, Kathy McKay; father and his wife, David and Anne McKay; and brother and his wife, Matt and Mimi McKay, all of Iowa City; sister and her husband, Carrie and Shawn Ina of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephew, Cloe, Ruby and Noah; stepbrother and his wife, Bill and Renee Lehman of Granger, Iowa; stepsister and her husband, Shelli and Brian Patrick of Indianapolis; stepnephews, Willie, Tucker and Colin; and stepniece, Brynn.
Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents; aunt Roma; and uncle Don.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Sarah's family and her services.
