Chipman, Daisy E.
Daisy E. Chipman, 93, died peacefully Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Port Charlotte, Fla., following a brief illness. Funeral Services to celebrate Daisy's life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Burial will be at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, the Daisy Chipman Memorial Fund has been established.
Daisy was born March 30, 1919, in Iowa City, the daughter of Harry and Neta (Southwick) Grout. She was a graduate of Sharon Center High School and attended the University of Iowa. On Aug. 23, 1940, Daisy married Carroll Chipman in Independence.
Daisy and Carroll farmed in the North Liberty area, where Daisy also drove the school bus and was a cook at Clear Creek Schools. They managed the Farm Service in North Liberty for many years.
Daisy had a wonderful sense of humor and treasured the time spent with family. Daisy was a gifted seamstress, knitter and cook. She was an avid bowler and card player. Throughout the years Daisy and Carroll enjoyed camping with family and friends. Her memberships included the Whip-O-Will Club and H2U in Florida.
Daisy is survived by four children, Alan (Barbara) Chipman of Williamsburg, Carolyn Matousek and Arthur (Colleen) Chipman, both of North Liberty, and Cindy (Gary) Winters of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Doris Moore, and her sister- in-law, Marilyn Grout, both of Kalona.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Gary; and four siblings, Lloyd Grout, Mae Sullivan, Earl Grout and Edwin Grout.
