Kirkwood deserves space on sports page

The Gazette does a nice job covering Kirkwood Community College in the news section, but many of the college's athletic achievements aren't being covered in the sports page.
Kirkwood's six athletic teams are consistently nationally ranked, winning a combined 10 national titles and 70 regional titles. There are many great Kirkwood stories - men's basketball ranked No. 1 in the nation with four of five starters being from the state of Iowa; women's basketball ranked No. 2, and players transferring to Iowa, ISU, UNI, and other colleges; players named All-American and National Player of the Year; alumni playing professionally in the NBA G League and overseas.
While it's impossible to cover all stories, it's not unrealistic for the sports page to provide more equitable coverage and share the inspiring stories about talented Kirkwood student-athletes working hard to represent our community.
