Charles "Chuck" McAtee, 85, of Clarence, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Pastor
Ron Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will
be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Chapman's in Clarence.
Chuck was born on Sept. 29, 1935, to Harold and Luella (Johnson) McAtee in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Rosalie Reece on July 15, 1964, in Center Point, Iowa. She passed away on July 19, 2006.
Chuck served his country in the U.S. Air Force and drove truck for over 50 years. He logged over 6 million miles and had friends from coast to coast. He dearly loved his wife, grandkids, great-grandkids and dogs (he especially liked spoiling his dogs). Chuck enjoyed meeting with the "Liar's Club" at Ditto's and his trucking buddies, and camping in his previous years.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Dave) Wallace of Tipton; sons, Kevin Jones (Christina) of Cedar Rapids, Chuck McAtee (Sue Elsea) of Stanwood and Scott (Amy) McAtee of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue (Randy) Thede of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Nora Reece of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie; son, Bill; granddaughter, Anna; four brothers; and a sister.
