UPDATE: Two men forced their way into a Cedar Rapids home Tuesday night and took several items before driving away in the resident's pickup, police said.
No arrests have been made in the home invasion, which happened around 9:45 p.m. at 3007 Oakland Rd. NE. Police were still looking for the white 1996 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, with a license plate of 236YDX.
According to a police report, the two suspects forced open a locked screen door after they knocked and a 64-year-old man who lives at the house opened the inside door. The resident was shoved around, but received only minor abrasions, police said.
No weapon was involved in the incident, police said. The items the suspects took were valued at less than $300, police said.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the suspects ripped out the man's landline phone before they left, so he went to a neighbor's house to call police. The neighbor told him they didn't want to get involved, Hamblin said, so the man walked a couple blocks to a video rental store and reported the incident around 10:05 p.m.
The first suspect was described as a heavyset black male, around 5-foot-11, wearing a dark jacket. The second suspect, also a black male, was shorter, about 5-foot-9, wearing a dark jacket and glasses.
