Gridlock impacts American economy

To the editor:
Thank you, Congressman Rod Blum, for writing the letter, which all six Iowa representatives signed, to President Barack Obama asking him to provide leadership to end the shutdown of 29 West Coast ports. This gridlock impacts not only Iowa pork products, but much of the American economy.
He wrote this in January. Finally, the president is getting involved.
Thank you also to Shams Ghoneim of the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Iowa for her excellent column which advocated a united effort to combat ISIS ('We must unite to fight ISIS, Feb. 19). We need more moderate Muslim leaders to condemn the radical Muslim terror tactics.
