Dewell, Leona C.
Leona C. Dewell, 95, of Clarence, died Friday, July 31, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services:
10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Pastor Lynn Butterbrodt officiating. Burial: Clarence Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to
5 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Leona was born Jan. 20, 1914, in rural Clarence to Fred and Dora (Griem) Meyer. She married Harold Dewell on May 16, 1935, in Clarence. He died in 1990. Leona was a member of St. John's Church and Charter member of the church's Lend-A-Hand circle. She also was a member of The Order Of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Nonie) and David (Pat), both of Lowden. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Orville and Richard Meyer.
