Stoll, Carrol Joseph
Carrol Joseph Stoll, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Bonneita E. Stoll of Cedar Rapids; a son, Rob (Deb) Stoll of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Barbara (Ken) Valentine of Springville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Viola Stoll; and two brothers, Cecil and George Stoll.
Carrol Joseph Stoll was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Anthony and Viola (Sherberger) Stoll. Carrol was united in marriage to Bonneita Smith on April 27, 1941, in Maquoketa. Carrol served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946 and was ranked captain. After the service, he owned and operated Stoll's Ben Franklin in Mount Vernon for 45 years.
Carrol was an active member of the Mason's for 50 years. He was also involved in the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and was a lay leader in the United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. Carrol enjoyed fishing, camping and trips with family and friends. But what Carrol treasured most in life was his family and friends!
Carrol will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
