Merchants on Melrose is a football tradition

I am not a big Hawkeye fan, but it pains me to sit back and see the neighborhood association on Melrose Avenue trying to wreak hell on the football Saturdays in Iowa City.
Where did these people come from? This has been the tradition for many years. This is only six or seven days out of the entire year, and these people knew that when they bought or rented property there.
I think the city should have rezoned that area commercial years ago, east of the bridge for a block or two. This sports stadium is not going away and with University Heights being commercial on the other side of the bridge, it makes no sense.
