Homegrown: Potato planting

Tradition calls for planting potatoes on Good Friday, but typically, that day would have passed by now.
This year's Good Friday, on April 22, will be a late one.
Iowa State University Extension notes that potatoes should be planted in late March or early April in southern Iowa; early to mid-April in central Iowa; and mid to late April in northern portions of the state.
I'm conceding victory to the Colorado potato beetles that invade the city-leased plot where I garden and will try container-grown potatoes for the first time.
Hopefully, the beetles won't follow me home.
