Speak up for renovation of Veterans Memorial
May. 29, 2010 12:05 am
Grant Wood's world-renowned Veterans Memorial window was created specifically for the Veterans Memorial Building coliseum to honor those who served our country throughout the ages. Although this beautiful artwork will be restored, the Veterans Memorial Building, dedicated to honoring those who have fought for our country's freedom, is in jeopardy of being re-purposed rather than preserved as the unique gathering place it was intended to be when the building opened in 1929.
Ensure the building is restored to proudly display Wood's stained glass treasure - as we have restored other significant landmarks since our devastating flood. Let commissioners know you want to protect this historic property and that you treasure the memory of those who fought and continue to fight for our freedom.
Attend the Veterans Memorial Commission meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 14 in the Spanish-American War Room in the Veterans Memorial Building coliseum and let your voice be heard.
