Speechless

By Barb Keel: My husband and I work together. We were working in the warehouse that day.

One of the office ladies came in and said that a plane had hit one of the towers at the World Trade Center. We thought she was kidding. So we turned on the radio. We had no television in the building. Then she got a call saying the second tower had been hit.

We did try and do some work that day, but it was hard. Three of us sat around the desk listening to the radio, all of us speechless. We had not been able to see any pictures, so it was all in our minds what was happening.

When the special editions of the Iowa City Press-Citizen and The Gazette were ready, we sent someone to get them for everyone.

Then we truly were speechless. Words could not describe what we were seeing in those pictures.
