Consider hosting an exchange student from Africa this school year. Our organization, the Iowa Resource for International Service (IRIS), is a non-profit based in Ames, whose mission is to forge global connections by sponsoring the most gifted high school students from Nigeria and Tanzania to come to Iowa for one year. These students live with host families, attend a local high school and witness how people of diverse backgrounds come together.
Since 2003, IRIS has brought more than 280 students to Iowa on scholarships provided by the U.S. State Department (scholarship includes health insurance and a small stipend.
IRIS's program has shaped a vision of young international students and Iowans as global citizens connecting and building bridges across cultures and continents. Interested in hosting? Call (515) 292-7103 or anastasia@iris-center.org.
