Letter: Laws, tradition do not apply to Trump

Lucy and the football, will she or won't she? The presidential election was a roller-coaster ride, complete with a side of sludge. When the fumes subsided, Donald Trump emerged, calling for unity, balance, and no more existential threats. Then back to the Midwest for a 'thank you” tour, only to refuel all of the divisive taunts to 'lock her up!” once more.
President-elect Trump has always pushed the envelope in terms of legality and now seeing how far into the woods he can venture with legal precedent in the nomination of retired General James Mattis. With the traditional and legal precedent of having to be out of the military for seven years, Trump plans to make a concerted effort to change that. President-elect Trump's personality does not seem to see any law or tradition which applies to him.
What have we done? Elected a savior? Or have we paid the price of having an exotic pet, a King Cobra, loose in the house, last seen disappearing down a cold air register, and nobody having any idea where it is. I guess we can pray we will find a dove in the living room? Good luck to us.
