Sievertsen, Bennie
Bennie Sievertsen, 87, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Anamosa Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 22, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. The Rev. John Kosec will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Wayne Zion Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Carleen; a son, Rick (Cindy) Sievertsen of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Jennie Rathmann of Anamosa; and two grandchildren, Meghan and Tyler Sievertsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ella Egger; and a brother, Carl.
Bennie Sievertsen was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Center Junction, Iowa, the son of Sievert and Anna Christianson Sievertsen. On June 2, 1957, Bennie and Carleen Ortgies were united in marriage at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in rural Monticello. Bennie farmed the majority of his life. He belonged to the Farm Bureau Federation of Jones County. He loved his Belgian horses, Charolais cattle and dancing with the love of his life, Carleen, but the thing he treasured most was the time he got to spend with his family and friends.
He will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
