Concerted effort made fair happen

No event can exist for 125 years without having a few challenging years. And this year proved to be the biggest challenge yet faced. The 2013 Linn County Fair was “canceled” due to drenching rain. Although there were no grandstand events and the shows that did happen were not at our fairgrounds, the 2013 fair still existed.
The Linn County Fair Board could have decided to cancel the fair in its entirety, the 4-H and FFA events as well. But our board took into account all of the effort the kids had put into their projects and worked even harder than usual to make it possible for the shows to be held. The fair board made arrangements with the Delaware County Fair Association to move to the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
The Linn County 4-H Youth Council thanks the Linn County Fair Board members, the volunteers, and the Delaware County Fair Association for making the 2013 Linn County Fair happen. May God bless you all. Just as a church is not of the steeple, but of the people, so our fair is not of the fairgrounds, but of the effort, goodwill and time of the board members and volunteers.
