Crofter, Virgil Frank
Virgil Frank Crofter, 90, of Mount Vernon, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be one hour before services Friday at the chapel. Burial to follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Virgil was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Iowa City, the son of Wes and Blanche Crofter. Virgil farmed in the Mount Vernon by the Ivanhoe bottoms area all his life.
Virgil is survived by his nephews, Mark Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids, and Richard Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids; great-nieces and nephews; as well as a very close friend, Melvin Crocker of Lisbon.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and very close friend, Lorraine Gorman.
