Sentelik, Joseph
Joseph Sentelik, 85, of 4331 Cavalier St. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services, with military honors, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a Vigil service beginning at 4 p.m.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Corrine; their children, Robert (Deb) Sentelik of Solon, Jean (John) Collins of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Lori (Mark) Werning of Shellsburg; six grandchildren, Courteney, Sarah and Christian Collins and Breanna, Melinda and Justin Werning; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alex, Steve, and Kenny; and four sisters, Susan, Mary, Betty and Marge.
Joseph was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Rutherford, Pa., to Michael and Maria Baranics Sentelik. He married Corrine Viverito on June 11, 1955, in Chicago, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, including World War II and the Korean War; and was a postal letter carrier.
He was a member St. Pius X Catholic Church, Marion American Legion Post No. 298, Fleet Reserve Association No. 216 and Postal Letter Carriers No. 193. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his crops with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
