Jake Porter will serve Iowans’ interests

Very few Americans feel that they're represented by the two major political parties. A Gallup poll early this year showed a record-high 45 percent of Americans now identify as political independents, while approval ratings for Congress and the president consistently show most of us are unsatisfied with our elected leaders.
And yet we still let partisan politicians run our elections. From the president all the way down to county races, the system is rigged to benefit Republicans and Democrats while keeping independents and third-party activists from getting their messages out. Even the secretary of state, the official responsible for overseeing elections, is a partisan position, held either by a Republican or a Democrat for all of Iowa's history.
I don't think the Republicans nor the Democrats should oversee our elections. That's why I'm voting for Jake Porter, a Libertarian candidate for secretary of state. Porter would restore voting rights to the disenfranchised, fight against voter ID rules, and make it easier to get registered. He will serve Iowans' interests, rather than the interests of the big political parties.
