Dortha L. Barnett, 93, passed away Sunday, Feb, 23, 2014, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. There will be a memorial service held for the family at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate the service.

Survivors include her children, son, Stephen E. Barnett of Marion; and daughter, Pam (Mark) Childs of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Carrie and Alexander; and eight great-grandchildren.
Dortha was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Robert; two sisters, Kathleen and Louise; and her brother, George.
She was born on June 26, 1920, to George and Edna Mae Heck in Rushville, Ind. She was married to Robert E. Barnett on Sept. 13, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Her passions were growing beautiful flowers, cooking excellent meals, crocheting, sewing and numerous crafts. She was a very creative person.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Linn Manor Care Center for the excellent care she received. God Bless each of you for the hard work you do and for providing such a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. They would also like to thank St. Luke's Hospice for their care and comfort.
Dortha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has left us with wonderful memories and we feel blessed to have had her in our lives.
