UPDATE: Police continue to investigate an early Wednesday morning shooting that apparently occurred in a strip mall parking lot.
Details of the alleged shooting are still fuzzy.
Kevin Herring, 21, of Cedar Rapids, told police he was shot twice in the lower left leg in the Town and Country strip mall parking lot, which is in the 3600 block of First Avenue E.
Prior to the shooting, Herring had been at The Hub, 3661 First Ave, said, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, a police spokeswoman.
Bar owner Chris Peacock, said Herring probably was at the bar, along with about 150 other people before it closed. However, Peacock said he didn't see any evidence that foul play took place in the strip mall parking lot.
Herring was treated for wounds at the Mercy Medical Center after the shooting. Police considered the injuries to be non-life threatening. On Thursday afternoon he was no longer a patient there.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, a police spokeswoman, said Herring was walking to his car when he was shot. He has told investigators he does not know who shot him or what they looked like.
“He can't give us any information as to who it was, and witnesses have been uncooperative,” Hamblin said. “We're doing everything we can, but it's difficult when no one is willing to help.”
Hamblin said police do not have any suspects at this time.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at (319) 286-5491.
