HOME BASE:
Congratulations to the Marion community for being named a 'Home Base Community” by Gov. Terry Branstad. The honor comes as recognition of local employers' push to hire veterans. Marion is the first, and currently only, community in Iowa to receive the designation.

GOING GREEN:
A 9,600-square-foot community garden project is on the docket for the North Liberty Community Food Pantry, and organizers have raised more than $30,000 of the $38,500 matching funds needed for this project. The garden will provide more fresh food for patrons, and also will help educate the community at large about gardening and the food supply.
