Promises from Branstad need plans, deadlines
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I am both bewildered and offended by the ads being run by (gubernatorial candidate) Terry Branstad: I assure you that “I” can guarantee 200,000 news jobs will be created here in Iowa; that family income will increase by 25 percent; that family values and education will get top priority in our state.
Those things will happen! What Branstad never mentions is when - in five years? ten years? 25 years? The types of promises he is making are meaningless. Set some plans of action. Set some deadlines. Then we'll all listen.
