Yanecek, Darlene J.
DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, services have been rescheduled.
Darlene J. Yanecek, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at St. Luke's Living Center West. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Graveside services will follow at Czech National Cemetery.
Darlene was born May 19, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Fleagle) Bartunek. She graduated from Wilson High School. Darlene married Charles Yanecek on June 15, 1946, in North Liberty. She worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in housekeeping until her retirement in 1989.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, making Sunday meals, her friends at the Trauma Center, going to Little Bo's, reading the National Enquirer, and at holiday times she would make pumpkin bread and peanut butter fudge. She was a member of the Fairfax American Legion Auxiliary. The time spent with her family was very important, especially the grandchildren and granddogs, Jalin and Bubak.
Darlene is survived by her son, Dave Yanecek of Fairfax; her daughter, Donna Sue (Brian) Jane of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Jacob (Erica) Yanecek of Norwalk and Lindsey Yanecek (Chad Postel) of Toledo; one great-grandson, Jaden Joseph Yanecek; and a brother, Rick (Cheryl) Bartunek of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles in 1995; and her daughter, Nancy Yanecek in 1965.
