The Linn County Sheriff's Department is responding to a blowout of concrete. It happened near the 27 mile marker in the left lane of Interstate 380 northbound near the Toddville exit.
Sheriff's deputies are shifting traffic in the right lane, which is causing a backup.
The DOT arrived at the scene and patched up the road buckle. Police say that this is the second time in two days a road buckle has happened on I-380.
The cause of these road buckles is the hot weather, which makes the concrete to expand and crack. Debris from the cracked surface can be very dangerous. It can fly up from the ground and throw pieces of concrete the size of baseballs at other vehicles.
