Anderson, Mildred P.
Mildred P. Anderson, 96, of Monticello, formerly of Chicago, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is caring for Mildred and her family.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Mettler, Monticello; a son-in-law, Sam Guagliardo, Eden Prairie, Minn.; four grandchildren, Michelle (Doug) Turnis, Hopkinton, Heather Nikolish, Marshalltown, Sam (Chris) Guagliardo, Germantown, Wis., and Jill (Frank) Terrance, Eden Prairie, Minn; four great-grandchildren, Rylan, Matthew, Allison and Katie; a niece, Arlene Sickenger, Pell Lake, Wis.; a nephew, George Swanson, Niles, Ill.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arvid in 2007; a daughter, Dorothy Jean Guagliardo; a son-in-law, Robert Mettler; and her sister, Evelyn Swanson.
Mildred Pauline Jacobsen was born July 2, 1915, in Chicago, Ill. She graduated from high school in Chicago and then went on to work as an executive secretary until the birth of her first child. Mildred Jacobsen and Arvid S. Anderson were married July 1, 1939, in Chicago. Mildred was a mother and homemaker. The couple lived in Chicago and later in Niles, Ill., before moving to Monticello in 2002.
Mildred loved to travel throughout the United States with her husband Arvid. She also loved to create beautiful needlework pictures, work crossword puzzles and play cards with friends.
