Police searching for suspects in cattle abuse case

The Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office is looking for several people who authorities said abused a herd of cattle.
On Jan. 6 deputies arrived at the Montezuma Sales Company, 540 North Front Street, in Montezuma where they found that 17 cows had been injured due to several unknown subjects entering the property overnight and attacking the cattle with sharp objects causing severe cut marks to the cows.
Authorities said due to life threatening injuries, three cows were euthanized and the other 14 were treated by a veterinarian.
This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with any information is requested to contact the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office at 641-623-5679.
