Jans, Jacqueline D.
Jacqueline D. Jans, 65, of Fairfax, died at home surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Private Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Melissa (Steven) Cotton of Bettendorf and their son, Griffin, and Jennifer (Darryl) Robinson of Overland Park, Kan., and their children, Maddison and DJ; her loving sister, Katie (Bill Thompson) Guertin of Waterloo; a nephew, Michael Guertin; and great-niece and nephew, Grace and Jack Guertin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Dena Wach; and a nephew, Torrey Olson.
Jacquie was born March 10, 1947, in Waterloo. She was a reading teacher at St. Pius Elementary School for many years before her retirement. Jacquie had a love of nature and enjoyed spending time in her garden. In addition, Jacquie was passionate about creating angel artwork and authoring original pieces of writing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Mercy, the doctors and staff at the University of Iowa and her friends and colleagues at St. Pius Elementary School for their care, compassion and support.
Memorials will be directed to cancer research.
