No Kernels on MWL postseason all-star team

CEDAR RAPIDS - No members of the Cedar Rapids Kernels are on the Midwest League's Postseason All-Star Team, which was released by the league Monday afternoon.
The team was selected by a vote of the 16 league field managers.
Lansing's Ryan McBroom was named the MWL's Most Valuable Player. The 23-year-old first baseman from the University of West Virginia was hitting .324 in 115 games going into Monday.
He had 38 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs and 82 RBIs.
The MWL Prospect of the Year is South Bend shortstop Gleyber Torres. The 18-year-old Venezuelan was hitting .296 in 111 games going into Monday, with 22 doubles, five triples, three homers, 61 RBIs and 22 stolen bases.
Other position players on the All-Star Team are Peoria's Darren Seferina (second base), Quad Cities' Nick Tanielu (third base), Quad Cities' Jacob Nottingham (catcher), West Michigan's Mike Gerber (outfield), Fort Wayne's Nick Torres (outfield) and Great Lakes' Alex Verdugo (outfield).
McBroom was named an all-star at both first base and designated hitter.
Dayton's Tyler Mahle was named the league's top right-handed starting pitcher, Peoria's Kyle Grana its top righty reliever. From the left side, the honorees are Peoria's Austin Gomber (starter) and Kane County's Zac Curtis (reliever).
Josh Bonifay of Quad Cities is the league's Manager of the Year. The River Bandits have a league-best 79-44 overall record.
