Re-elect Meisterling to C.R. school board

Mary Meisterling is an extraordinarily gifted school board member and voters should enthusiastically support her re-election Tuesday to the Cedar Rapids Community School District Board of Education. During my time on the school board, I interacted with dozens of school board members from across the state and I never met anyone with a greater talent for listening to people and making them feel that their opinions are valued and respected, while at the same time being able to explain clearly and patiently the detailed aspects of complicated matters of school district policy.

Meisterling has proved to be highly skilled in understanding educational issues and balancing the needs of all the district's stakeholders.

I also support the re-election of incumbents Ann Rosenthal and John Laverty. Returning these experienced board members to their positions will help ensure continued progress on the improvement initiatives that the board and Superintendent Dave Benson have put in place.
