Schultz, Ethyle V.
Funeral services for Ethyle V. Schultz, 91, of Kalona, formerly of Ainsworth, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will follow at the Oregon Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Ethyle Schultz died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, following a lengthy illness.
A memorial fund has been established for the Ainsworth Opera House and the Ainsworth 1st Responders.
Ethyle was born on May 24, 1919, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Carson Wade and Oma Bell (Wilson) Wilson. She attended Pilotsburg Rural School. She was united in marriage to Howard Schultz on Feb. 18, 1941, in the Presbyterian parsonage in Washington. Ethyle was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. She was a homemaker and also worked at many restaurants in the Washington and Ainsworth area. Ethyle enjoyed baking, flower gardening, crafts and collecting various items. She was known for her wedding cakes and Halloween doughnuts.
Survivors include five children and spouses, Duane "Barney and Rita Schultz of Ainsworth, Ronnie Schultz of Hedrick, George and Judy Schultz of Ainsworth, Steve and Sally Schultz of Ainsworth, and Sharon and Roger Gillis of Ainsworth; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with the 23rd soon to be born; and one sister, Nima McClelland of Washington.
Preceding Ethyle in death were her husband in 1971; one son, Howard on Feb. 6, 2008; two brothers, Oscar and Walter Wilson; and three sisters, Opal Schantz, Mae Page and Edna Schantz.
