Try applying safety line to helmet laws

I must respond to the guest column in the Feb. 3 Gazette concerning traffic cameras written by retired police officer Chuck Mincks of Marion. He comes down hard on anyone who is opposed to the cameras. I am all for safety on the highways, I just don't care to be watched by a camera.
He also states the worn-out mantra, “It will save lives.” If they are so concerned about saving lives, then how about supporting helmet laws for motorcyclists? They won't touch that with a 10-foot pole. Anyone can see it is just a fat cash cow, being milked by the local law enforcement.
