Grobstick, M. Lucille
M. Lucille Grobstick, 86, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Farley, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. Friends and relatives of Lucille may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Services for Lucille will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. David Beckman presiding. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Reiff Funeral Home in Farley is in charge of arrangements.
Lucille was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Manchester, Iowa, daughter of Clarence H. and Augusta Marie (Derga) Grobstick. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Farley and also a graduate of Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. Lucille was employed at Iowa National Mutual Insurance Association until it closed; then was employed at Merchants National Bank/Firstar until her retirement in 1993.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Parish in Cedar Rapids, where she also volunteered for many church committees. She was a member of the Mercy Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the America's, and served as a volunteer for SHIIP.
She is survived by two sisters, Theresa Hermsen of Dyersville and Helen Grobstick of Dubuque; five nieces and nephews, Paul (Kim) Hermsen, Sue Hermsen, Tim (Sandy) Hermsen, Joe Hermsen and Jenny Hermsen; a great-niece, Payton Mae Hermsen; a great-nephew, Jack Edward Hermsen; and three stepgreat- nieces, Kelsey, Courtney and Kylie Steffensmeier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Clara Mae Grobstick on Feb. 16, 2005; and a brother-in-law, Clarence E. Hermsen on Aug. 9, 2011.
A M. Lucille Grobstick Memorial Fund has been established.
