KALONA - Officials say they're not sure exactly what caused Thursday's fire in Kalona, but an investigation showed no sign of foul play.
The fire occurred Thursday morning at Nisly Wood Products, 1319 Highway 1, Kalona. No one was hurt in the fire, but the business was destroyed. Owner Simon Nisly said he wasn't sure if he would rebuild the facility.
Because the flames were so destructive, an investigation conducted by the Iowa Fire Marshall's office was inconclusive.
“The is going to be undetermined only because of the extent of the damage and the heavy fire load. It's going to be almost impossible to figure out what started this fire,” Kalona Fire Chief Steve Yotty said. “We find absolutely no suspicion of no foul play or anything like that.”
