Meier, Beverly J.
Beverly J. Meier, 76, of 1710 Meiers Ct. NW, passed into the loving arms of our Lord Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, peacefully cradled in her loving husband's arms and surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 59 years, Wayne Sr.; their children, Kathy Aller of Cedar Rapids, Karey McCarthy of Wisconsin and Wayne (Jackie) Meier Jr. of Robins, Iowa; her sister, Barbara Falvey of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Lisa (Justin) Pichler, Chelsey (Jeremy) Oberreuter and Curtis Meier; and two great-grandsons, Brady and Bryce Pichler.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Beverly was born June 20, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, to Richard and Elynore Miller Spacek. She married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Meier Sr., on Aug. 11, 1951, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She was the first manager of the Flower Stall at St. Luke's Hospital, retiring in 1991. She graduated in 1951 from McKinley High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader and a member of the choir. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, and Future Homemakers of America. She was a leader in Bluebirds and Campfire Girls.
She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time at their lake home at Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., traveling, especially during the winter months around the gulf coast with family and friends in their RV, and spending time with loved ones. Her cats were also always a source of great joy to her.
Everyone is aware of Beverly's fondness for the color purple, so feel free to wear something purple to the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
