Less weather, more investigation on TV
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 20, 2009 12:00 am
Now that Gazette Communications has revamped its newspaper format (for the better), it's time for the television station it owns to do the same. I'd suggest the following:
Get rid of all the meteorologists except one and quit giving the weather forecast every 10 minutes out of a 30-minute program. Don't use half of the broadcast to give me the station's call letters as I don't suffer from dementia. Take the money saved and hire a real investigative reporter (we haven't have one in town since “Sewergate”) and one who is not afraid to ruffle the feathers of our untouchable city manager and his band of council members.
Also we need interactive coverage of their meetings so we can yell at them from our living rooms. If all else fails, please bring back black and white test patterns for 12 hours a day with comforting, restful music.
