Letter: Rod Blum keeps promises

Congressman Rod Blum has proved that he is not a typical politician. He keeps his promises. I applaud his common sense Iowa approach to serving the voters that sent him to DC. Instead of using words or rhetoric, our Congressman has rolled up his sleeves and helped constituents find jobs, seniors navigate federal bureaucracies and veterans receive the care they deserve. Blum is fulfilling the promises he made when he was a candidate.
We all owe Congressman Blum thanks for using his Cedar Rapids office resources to host and conduct many events supporting citizens. In January there was an App Challenge for budding high school entrepreneurs in Cedar Rapids. In February there was a Senior Wellness Fair at the NewBo Market. A Job Fair connected people with job opportunities at The National Czech & Slovak Museum. Congressmen Blum lead a Manufacturer's Roundtable hosted by Kirkwood College and the Economic Alliance.
I wonder why the Cedar Rapids Gazette didn't cover any of these service activities that help Blum's constituents? You would think that human interest stories about how a candidate is achieving their campaign promises would be as important as publishing all those promises being made by Blum's rivals.
Moving forward, I hope The Gazette will cover these positive service events organized by Congressman Blum and inform the voters of Iowa that some politicians do keep their promises and serve the people.
