We need to learn from the Sandusky ordeal
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Thank you, jurors, for the guilty verdict for (former Penn State coach) Jerry Sandusky. They did what they should have done. I can only imagine.
Coming from Joe Paterno's grave, “I should have done more.”
Mike McQueary, I should have stopped the shower incident.
University administration, we should have reported allegations to the police.
Second Mile should have been investigated by authorities.
Janitor, I should have reported what I saw.
Should young boys report it? Yes. How can they when they are threatened, traumatized, showered with gifts and attention, ashamed, totally lacking understanding of what is happened to them, immature and frightened?
The only positive result of this ordeal is possibly those suffering sex abuse will come forward. And the realization the young victims need understanding and prayers.
