Family members now say a cow did not attack and kill a Benton County woman.
Initial reports indicated that the cow was responsible for the death of 60-year-old Jean Fee at her farm north of Urbana Saturday afternoon. Instead, family members tell KCRG-TV9, Fee died of a stroke.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office found Fee in a cow pasture Saturday. She went into the field with her 23-month-old grandson to feed the cows. She later died at a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Investigators first believed a mother cow attacked her to protect her calf. Family members say that did not happen and that Fee had no marks on her from the cow. They say an autopsy determined she died of a massive stroke.
